1000 Liferafts, 2011

While living at a buddhist monastery/ summer retreat center, I constructed these rafts making the sails out of those Yogi brand teabag tabs with trite inspirational sayings written on them. I set the rafts adrift on Tassajara Creek which eventually empties out on the Pacific Ocean. Most of the little boats got caught up in rocks and debris and I retrieved them so as not to be a litterbug in that beautiful wilderness. I was able to collect all but one of the miniature rafts. I like to think that the missing one made it to the ocean and is still sailing free out on the open seas.
