Toner Drawings
For the past 7 years or so, I have been making drawings using powdered photocopy toner as a medium. I apply and manipulate the toner using paint brushes, erasers and various other homemade tools; then, I set the drawing on the surface of the paper using heat. When I first started working this way, the toner solved a number of technical irritations I was having with powdered charcoal. It also made conceptual sense as many of my projects dealt with multiples of the same image: I was making hand made “copies” of my own work.
